We are excited to introduce our scholarship winner, Emily Phillips. Here is a note from Emily:

Update: This summer, I got to serve as a Sustainable Landscape Maintenance Technician Intern at LandStudies in Manheim! Every day, we would travel around to floodplain restoration sites or native flower meadows to spray any invasive species there. I got to learn a lot of plant identification, and now I see invasive plants everywhere, which isn't much fun but is probably a good thing. I also got to meet a lot of people that worked in Environmental Science, and that was a really cool opportunity!

My classes are going well so far! We're one week into the fall semester, and I think I'm going to enjoy all of my classes. I'm taking Plant Taxonomy and Systematics, which is going to be a lot of plant identification and relationships. A lot of our labs are outside, which is a nice change from previous semesters.

Note for the group: Thank you all so much for allowing me to study Environmental Science at Messiah! All of my classes are challenging but rewarding, and I am so thankful to be able to continue my education and pursue a career in caring for the planet. I hope to be able to attend a meeting in the coming year to meet all of you! Thanks again for all that you do!
